Measuring the Age with Speed Long Way

The experts who are interested in studying life expectancy has now found a simple way to find out, which saw a person walking speed.

Those who consistently runs 1 meter per second (about 2.25 mph) or more identified more longevity than people with gender and age are similar but slower when walking.

"The capacity of a person to walk describes the fitness and health," said Dr. Stephanie Studenski, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh.

Nevertheless, he said, the purpose of this study was not to invite people to walk faster so long life.

"Our bodies will naturally determine the most appropriate walking speed with our capabilities. Therefore, the speed of walking could be an indicator of health," Studenski said.

He said, walking quickly is also not a guarantee of long life because there are many other factors that determine the health condition. Ways and walking speed depends strongly on energy-owned body, movement control, and coordination.

Therefore, the required function of the right to run the complex systems that work and involve cardiovascular, neurological, and muscular systems.

Studenski research is based on an analysis of nine research on walking speed, age, gender, body mass index, medical history, and life expectancy of more than 34,500 people.

This walking speed can be used to accurately predict life expectancy for people aged 75 years or older.
